McChrystal Afghanistan Assessment: More Forces Or "Mission Failure"

"Mission failure"??? Uh, what's the "mission" this week? Is it to bring democracy to the Afghans? Is it to neutralize the Taliban? Is it all for the capture of Osama? Is it to help Karzai maintain the poppy production, which is Afghan's only GNP? Is it a neat place to test and deploy some our more advanced and unmanned equipment? Is it just a policing action to enhance our own foot print in the middle east? Is it to have a presence in and near Pakistan, finally? Or is it to secure the geography so a pipeline can be built and made secure to route oil and thus eliminate the need for other middle east countries to use expensive tankers to get product to the world market? Pick one already, please. So we'll know what to expect when we decide to undertake a similar "mission" in Iran at the first opportunity. "Mission failure"??? You gotta have a mission, first.

GOP Leadership Worried About Damage To Party's Reputation From Base

Maybe..."it can't happen here".

In spite of my own personal doubts I have been a staunch supporter of the principles and possibilities that our leadership and representatives could in fact deliver on the promise of an all encompassing health care reform package that would shore up the medical needs of millions of Americans who are either uninsured and/or under insured due to the predatory nature of the industries connected with it and the fiscal motivation of those who make policy. I support the cause probably more than most and would like to think that a plan will emerge that will generally (and finally) beneift the American people.

But as the facts roll out about Senators on commitees that are "gifted" millions of dollars by the very industries that would be "brought in and online" for such a program, for the sole purpose of having them legislate policy that would ultimately primarily benefit those industries and the status quo, it giving me great pause, second thoughts and lack of hope for the medical relief of the American people.

Debtor's Revolt: Woman Refuses To Pay Off Bank Of America Credit Card (VIDEO)

The banks are raising the interest rate to the American people 100% with one hand and taking bllions of dollars in taxpayer provided bail out money with the other.
Everyone should learn to live on a pay as you go basis and then just let those worthless pieces of plastic begin filling up the lobbies of BOA and every other shark operation until they can't even clear a path to their offices.

If you think the protest in DC was an anti-Health Care Reform rally, guess again.

These are the preexisting conditions that are killing this country.

This was for all intent and purposes an anti-Obama rally. You betcha' and damn Skippy.

Look again at the footage and the photos of these crowds from today and then try to convince yourself that these people were genuinely interested in supply side economics or were nothing more than rational people protesting taxation or the HCR. Hell, the current economy was of Republican making over the last 8 years. Can you pick out a sign or placard that showed even the slightest tinge of dissatisfaction over the party responsible for that? No.

The vast majority of signs, slogans and the rhetoric that followed were primarily basic personal attacks on the current administration and in a nut shell what the complaining masses were there to say today was inspired by the invitation of the extremist right column in this country, and the cheerleaders on the right who coordinated the rally and lit the burning cross on the media's lawn.

So discuss the activities of the day all you like folks and analyze the common causes for the shift in the economy and how that plays into the health care debate. But don't kid yourselves.

These people came to shout out the equivalent of, "We cannot abide losing the last election to a black President! And as long as we have a shield of any sort to hide behind, be it taxation, the health care initiative, whatever; we will willingly provide the Republican party with whatever furthers their political agenda leading up to the 2012 elections."

The Right has lit the fire and these folks have been stirred up real good. Their only objective is to get the black guy out of the White House or make him look as bad as possible to America and the world in the process. And they are doing it by walking over the dead bodies of their fellow Americans who can neither afford, find, secure or retain health care expenses as they are today and are certain to be tomorrow.

The Industrialist party has got us where "they" want us, indecisive, filled with misinformation, and hate until we've become politically impotent and merely cattle for the farming. One hundred years of expecting reform and not getting it will pretty much take it out of you.

But we're still #37 in health care for our citizens, people...and dropping like a stone in the ratings with each passing day that nothing is done.
And for this the people in Washington today chant, Rah. Rah. Rah. Feel the pride. Call your President and his posse Nazis and present your best efforts at spelling in your native tongue.

I look with hesitancy forward to the day these folks, whipped into a frenzy by the Extremist Right Column of the Industrialist party find that they supported the abortion of an HCR under the guise of racism and that in all likelihood they will eventually find themselves one day dying for because of their own contributions.

Rep. Joe Wilson Yells Out "You Lie!" During Obama Health Care Speech (VIDEO)

Wilson is a perfect specimen of the extremist right column that is driven to usurp any forward motion towards solving this country's 100 year social and domestic policy deficits. His rude and inaccurate interruption at an inappropriate time and in an inappropriate setting (which through fact checking bears out that he knew nothing of which he spoke) is indicative of the loose cannon... allow no one a view in opposition to your own...facts be damned... hell bent on being right in spite of all facts to the contrary attitude that we've seen for months in public debate over health care reform proposals in town meetings...where some fllow extremist right columnists have even brandished rifles in the parking lots of presidential appearances.

His outburst exposed him as the same sort of troglodyte in a Brooks Brother's suit that more than likely helped orchestrate the slew of fear generating lies that has thwarted the work of other good people of genuine effort to distribute health care to millions of people who desperately need it.

We now have a prime suspect in the allegiance that has come up with “death panels”, “higher taxation” scares, the forfeit of choice in physicians and the Socialism slanders and falsehoods we have been barraged with from Rush to Hannity to Fox News. Wilson owes not only the President and Congress an apology. He need publicly apologize directly to the people of America for his intentional dismissal of the rules of conduct and then roll up his sleeves and work markedly harder towards the betterment of any and all legislation which would improve upon the quality of life for American citizens rather than showing a continued willingness to only have concerns, accurate or otherwise to attempt to simply win the debate and deflate the popularity of a president for what simple deduction makes appear to be purely political and/or racial purposes.
If any private citizen even at an informal town hall or Bush appearance had done this, they would have been forced to the ground, possibly tasered and escorted off the premises.

It has taken place over less provocation.

Wilson should not get a free pass.

(And am I mistaken or are those two guys on either side of Wilson, clones?)

Obama: "We Do Intend To Get Something Done This Year"

I don't think for a minute that any health care plan proposed is going to stand up well besides what other westernized, modern nations are already providing to their people. We may get a savings over existing costs. But we will still be at the mercy of the insurance industry with their exception (waeasel) clauses and denials of services for "pre-existing conditions" which allow them to cut off people (or a gov't) that pays the premiums. That is of course if any proposal at all meets the criteria and the approval of the insurers, care provider and pharm industries...and their botton line, profit.

And that's the problem, really. For all the talk of wishing to provide affordable health care for the people of America, the bottom line as seen by Congress is to appear to be doing the noble thing like so many other countries have managed to do, and to in fact appease the lobby moneys that help people in high public office maintain their war chests for pending re-elections.

It's unfortunately a "promise them anything. Give them as little as you can possibly get away with." situation that the American people are once more placed in no matter what if anything gets a majority vote.

You see, in this way America suffers from a pre-existing condition and service has been denied for decades. Come up with a definitively workable health plan for the people as it is in England, France and elsewhere and maybe we can find and cure America's leadership from it's addiction to the health industry dollar.

If we can (and do) provide universal health care in Iraq and Afghanistan without the boondoggle...why can't we do it for our own, right here?

Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story" Premieres In Venice To Great Reviews

When capitalism becomes synonymous and interchangable with democracy as it has in modern America, and its expansion grows like a cancer to include the total global village making it impossible for people to survive but for the purpose of being collectively farmed to further nourish the beast, then it is an evil. I find this to be a given truth. Find your own contradictory truths if you must. But Michael Moore is not the story here to initiate thought and debate no matter how many people choose to use him as an instrument to deflect from the uncomfortable truths he either deliberately or accidently sheds light on with his work in films.

Let's face it...

...there's not a single thing that this President can propose that wouldn't meet with the same group of people complaining and obstructing any forward motion for this country's progress. Well, lucky you if you have all you need and don't need anything from the gov't.
Yet, that is.
And don't kid yourself. You already do.
Your minimal middle class taxes already bring you the luxuries that you reap from gov't programs at a fraction of their actual cost.
On your current contributions alone, you couldn't keep the street lights on in your neighborhood, the fire department running or the police department in clean uniforms.
Medicare and a few dozen other programs are steeped in socialism, including the 700 billion dollars for the housing financial bail out (signed by the Bush Administration) funding for our military, the highways you drive on and public schooling.
Instead of chattering your complaints like a bunch of monkeys in the trees, why don't you tell all of us how you would expect the repairs be made to the inadequacies in our domestic spending rather than digging your heels in like a rented mule and taking every opportunity to simply nay-say every proposal that comes out of this administration that would help refinance an already socialized system that has not kept up with the needs of it's citizenry since FDR.
We're in this together, whether you are sitting pretty or not. And you are part of a Republc that was founded "for, of and by the people". Whether the President is Bush, Clinton, Bush or Obama makes no difference. Get on board or jump overboard and swim on your own somewhere else. We've got a boat to row here. Grab an oar or go off somewhere and continue to only care about fending for yourself. Please!

USA Has Biggest Summer In Cable History

Spring for a movie sometime, if you haven't lately. Ok...a matinee if you prefer. Sometimes they have cheaper prices. Sometimes. Here's what you spend on average. $8.50 per ticket. Three people costs $25.50. Snacks? Ok...how about a large popcorn and a couple of medium sized soft drinks. Nothing fancy, just movie watching basics. That's another $14 bucks. You've just spent $39.50 for a 2 hour viewing experience for you and two friends. That's more than a yearly salary for hard labor in many countries.

Does anybody wonder why the movie business is limping along these days and the cable industry (who charges perhaps twice this much for a month's worth of unlimited viewing) is booming?

Hello! We're in a bad economy at the moment. Unless you're a financial or auto business that's being bailed out by the Feds you might consider getting a bit more for your entertainment dollar these days.

Add to this the efforts by the cable industry to provide viewing option based on what people seem to want to watch, superior writing and directing over network television and a wide scope of variety and there's no contest. In fact there's no need for this obvious situation to become a news event at all. It's an explanation of the blatantly obvious.

U.S. To Boost Combat Force In Afghanistan With 14,000 Troops

I voted for Obama, too.

Since his coming to term, he has back tracked on these issues and others to the point where they are almost indistinquishable to those of the previous administration which in speeches he railed against and promised to reverse.

I'm convinced at this point that the system will only allow us the option to vote for one of the two candidates (one on the left and one on the right) that best represent the advance and continuation of the status quo and who will continue the same course that has been engineered by industry and big money in America.
Making matters worse the press is part of that push in each presidential election, swaying public opinion and ensuring the success of either heir apparent they are directed to.
It's unfortunate. Obama appeared to represent a definitive change for America. All we seem to be getting for all that lip service is more of the same, with a new tact being taken by the administration in informing the public of what is going on and the delivery of rhetoric that makes the same tired national approaches and agendas more palatable to the masses.

Interrogate this!

So, it's ok to be killed in America...just not by "some dang ferriner"?

With all the bleating of the sheep over the need for "enhanced interrogation" for Taliban and AQ... supported by the chant of "they killed 3000 Americans on 9/11"...I might remind you that since 9/11 Americans have killed more Americans on the streets of American cities per year than AQ or any real, perceieved or imaginary "terrorists" from somewhere else by tens of thousands more.

The stats for homicides just in 2008 from a few major cities clearly show that our losses of 9/11 pale by comparison our losses in any given year since.

And yet, the same sheeple with the quick fix solution for the inhumane treatment of supposed "terrorists" remain silent year after year since 9/11 and seemingly accepting of the domestic terrorism that costs far more American lives then that incident 8 years ago or in any war/invasion we have involved ourselves in since that day.

Here's what you should be bitching about if you actually had a reverence for the sanctity of life and not just an "us and them" hard on for revenge. NYC/255, Chicago/509, Baltimore/209, Detroit/340, LA/381...

These numbers only represent the blotter reports for 2008. Nowmultiply these stats times the number of US cities and then times that by 8...or the number of years since we lost 3000 Americans on 9/11, 2001.

And you're worried about "possible threats"???

More Americans were killed in Chicago in 2008 than we lost in 6 years of war in Iraq.

If I'm one of you..and sadly, I am...I'd be more irrate and reactive about the real threats for America. Americans.

So based on the clamor from the large of heart and small of mind, that it's perfectly acceptable to be killed enmass in America...as long as it ain't at the hands of "some dang ferriner!".

Gun Permits: What The Latest Mass Killings Have In Common

More dead in the last month than in our favorite war zones of choice, Iraq and Afghanistan. Forget about checking your guns at the door. Check out your culture. I don't think the 2nd amendment meant to have anything to do with bearing arms so one can kill their wife and children or innocent bystanders present at the hunt. Yet it appears to be becoming a national pass time lately. 57 dead since March 10. How dope is that? So save the "guns don't kill people" bullshit. They most certainly do.
Making a comparison between guns and sharp objects as many people do, is idiocy that offers nothing to the debate and exposes a terrible gap in someone's cognitive ability.
Knives and sharp objects can not be thrown at practically the speed of sound or with any similar lethal affect or accuracy into a crowd, across a room, down the hall at a dormitory or from a balcony at a mall.
That's exactly what killed the latest 57 gun involved homicide victims in America...well, that and people who were issued official permits for those guns. "Something's happenin' here."

Stock Market Rally On Hold

Extreme problems require extreme measures. How well could anyone else run this country with the problems we've inherited from the previous administration(s) in less than 100 days?? This country is so beyond the possibility that a few tweaks can fix what's wrong with it that anyone who didn't see that some drastic measures would be needed to move us forward in the correct direction is either a fool or drinking the conservative/GOP Kool-Aid. This country gave George Bush 8 years to deflate the economy. You can at least give Obama 8 months to fix things. Well, you could if fixing the country was as important to you as trading our future for the pleasure of seeing to it that Obama's efforts fail. Because let's face it. There's a new "kido" on the block...

The networking community is up in arms and warning alarms about a new "virus" that's making headlines. Some of it's names are kido, conficker and downadup.
Some people who haven't even been remotely affected by it are looking for blood, executions and incarceration for the people behind this new code.
In the event no one has told you, as the deal goes...we are free to use the internet if we choose to. No one promised any of us that we had certain inalienable rights and protections while we were using it.
Those people who find some fulfillment in breaking and creating code are just as entitled to find in the internet whatever might personally attract them as you or I.
Where did everyone else get this self righteous sense of entitlement that dictates the use of the internet exists solely for their own purpose and anyone with a counter objective should be denied these services or punished if they should pursue them?
No. I'm not talking about or condoning identity theft or fraud here. I'm talking math. I'm talking code. And I'm talking about those who by finding weaknesses in existing code ultimately help evolve the very science and art of programming.
These people, whether they pose an inconvenience to others who choose to (we are not being forced) use the internet have as much right to use the net as you, me or anyone else.
It's a jungle out there. You can't simply build fences and call a public domain yours for your own exclusive purposes to the exclusion of everyone else with a different set of interests.
Protect yourself and stop demanding ridiculous penalties and punishment for those who choose to use the net for reasons other than your own.
If you're that troubled by the risks of using the internet, find another means of carrying on your business and communications needs.
It isn't as though things have never been done in any other way on this planet.

Cheney Shrugs At Economic Crisis: Don't Blame Us (VIDEO)

The apologists of the Bush administration have gone full tilt boogie into the role of historical revisionists for their under equipped former boss and as a means to redeem their own roles and associations with him. They are coming out in droves on talk shows and political interview shows like mites from a mattress in a junkies crash pad in a condemned building.

And assisting them in all of these efforts to transmogrify recent history is corporate news.

And why is that?

Well, because corporate media is owned by, presented and exists for the sole purpose of representing the interests of, well, corporate America and the perpetuation of globalization. It is an integral part in every sense and a very real, living and ongoing matrix that we live in that exists to have the world citizenry see a reality that they ("corporatism") fabricates and manipulates out of fear that at some point enough people will wake up and genuinely change the paradigm that corporatism has come to profit and thrive upon. If the illusion were to be replaced in the minds of the world people with it would destroy any and all illusions that any of what is going on in world management is anything more than insanity in exchange for power...which is after all the only real currency in a system anchored in monetary and material worship.

Justice Department Ends "Enemy Combatant" Definition For Gitmo Detainees

Ya see? It's like this. No matter who runs for and wins the presidency in this country, it is their job to maintain the status quo not to bring about real change. That's why corporations throw money at both of the candidates, who just coincidentally share the same broad vision as the other (and the previous President) once the election is done and they assume power. That is why Obama has declared that the "combat mission will be over in Iraq in 2010"...but that does not address the continuation of any other sort of mission. That is also why changing the name from "enemy combatant" in no way makes any of these detainees any closer to being released after all these years. It's all semantics and getting the people to believe what they want so badly to believe by manipulating the language rather than actually changing policy. And hey...I say this with all the love one can muster. I voted for Obama, believing things would be different. Not so much, huh?

It would be a massive landslide with a race only involving Coleman and Franken to the tune of a double digit percentage final count by the time the sun came up the next day.
Perhaps someone should get a court ruling on holding a run off in this situation to begin with and resolve this then move forward with having one.

I still can't believe that this is the same guy that wanted Franken to throw in the towel on the eve of the election for expediency and the "good of the state of Minnesota". And now he's the main impediment to resolving this issue by not accepting the results of the law driven recount.

No. Wait. What am I saying? It's Coleman and the GOP. I can believe double speak all too well. We've been living with it as policy for 8 years now.

Come to think about it...since when were people who aren't Senators allowed to just mosey in and visit the Senate??
Try it sometime and let me know how that works for you, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public. I'll start scraping together the bail.

Cadillac One: President Obama's New Limousine Officially Unveiled

Sheer irony.

If this were truly "one nation" standing behind the ideals of the founding fathers and the principles of democracy we wouldn't need to have our leadership carried around in armored personnel carriers like some third world, tin pot dictator.

Reality seems to have a way of creeping in and destroying the popularly distributed perceptions, doesn't it?

Fun Facts From Zach's Almanac: You just can't make this stuff up!

It appears that the animal protection group P.E.T.A is pushing a wide ranging PR campaign or spin to rename the class of Animalia known as "fish" to something more attractive, cute and well, cuddly in an effort to raise the consciousness of people who basically see the species as sport or (more importantly) food.
And what is the fruit of these efforts from a various sub-section of highly educated college grads and learned marketing scholars???
P.E.T.A. would like us to call fish, "sea-kittens".
That's all I've got.
I mean, how much funnier could this possibly be made out to be??

Fun Facts From Zach's Almanac: If "a rose is a rose..."

Adolf Hitler Campbell Taken From Parents By Police

For what little is actually revealed about this story at all, you really should slip out to Huffington Post (link below) and read it for yourself. Brace yourself. There's so little who, what, where, when and why revealed it could make a journalism professor wince in pain.
But as this story plays out in the next few days, I'll be very curious to see what, (aside from the parent's choice of names for these kids) made the authorities believe a law was broken or these kids were in danger. Weird names to give your kids?
Yeah! Sure! You betcha!
But we either live in a free country established on laws or we don't. And what ever you may want to name your kids should be of no interest to the government.
It isn't as though there's nothing else happening these days that shouldn't already be occupying their attention. Or did I miss the memo on how we've established Utopian peace and prosperity?

Police Swarm Subway After Protests Over Shooting Turn Violent (VIDEO)

Oakland, CA police gear up to disburse protesters
and provoke violence in the community.

I just can't get enough stories about people being charged with "unlawful assembly".
In America, what is unlawful assembly when the first amendment of our Constitution specifically ensures assembly as a basic human right to "collectively express, promote, pursue and defend common interests", or more specifically implied, "the right to protest"??

We have a glut of lawyers in America to interpret laws for the common man and woman when these laws were meant to be easily understandable to all, only to have the meaning of what few laws that seem fairly clear and understandable, altered and reinvented to the point of having none of their original, intended meaning any longer.

Time to wake up people. Take that red pill.

Israel and the Hamas of Gaza: This could be going much, much better for everybody!

A large percentage of the people dying in Gaza yesterday, today and tomorrow are not Hamas militia.
It's that simple in spite of all other surrounding complexities involved with this situation.
For certain no one has been able to ascertain what percentage of the population of Gaza is militia or is responsible for lobbing rockets, (as impotent and ineffective as this still very real threat may be) into Israel for years now.
One does not use a sledge hammer to swat mosquitoes. It's hell on the windows, portraits and drapes. One does not strafe, invade, occupy, fire precision missiles or bombs into East LA, New York, Chicago or other US cities in an effort to stop the Cryps or the Bloods from mugging, maiming or murdering the citizenry or the authorities.
No one brought tanks and missiles into play in Europe to rain death upon any city to combat the organized anarchists (sheer irony, that!) who year after year congregate to disrupt the G-8 Summit held by any of the hosting membership nations of France, the US, the UK, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy or Canada.
For all anyone knows for certain...the ratio of gang members in any other industrialized country and the percentage of Hamas militants in Gaza are very similar. The problem is and continues to be that Hamas militants are not the sole target of Israeli's superior and 4 billion per year western supplied military might. And these rising collateral damages, in a 12 mile by 12 mile bombed out ghetto over the years is reaching perfectly criminal proportions that others who have been tried for war crimes could only have dreamed of in their wildest twisted machinations.
Other means are available to Israel to find, isolate and eliminate whatever small factions of the population Hamas represents, should Israel truly care to do so.
Israel has historically proven to possess one of the most effective secret service organizations in the free world. They have successfully infiltrated whomever they wished to as far back as the Mossad can be remembered. Israel has infiltrated hostile organizations from the terrorists at the Olympics in Germany to capturing Nazi sympathizers 60 years after the fact in Argentina.
Finding and eliminating whatever small percentage of the Gaza population was responsible for firing rockets at Israel could have been accomplished long ago if a genuine modicum of recognition for the sanctity of civilian life were actually in practice today by those who claim to be living and practicing it already.
We are led to believe that Israel is better than the murderous people fighting against them. I want to believe this as much as my culture insists that I do. And it is known for a fact that Israel has the technology, finances and intelligence to show the world exactly that of themselves.
When will we get to see some tangible evidence of this rather than the slow destruction of the Palestinian state while Hamas, no matter how small and ineffective is allowed to remain an ongoing excuse for the extended occupation, further conflict and the death of civilians who are being held captive within a 12 mile by 12 mile compound by a military who has been time proven to be superior on the one side to the comparatively small and ill equipped gang of thugs called Hamas militiamen in Gaza on the other?

Biden: Obama Made Mistake Not Consulting Feinstein

The inauguration has yet to take place and the Vice President is publicly critiquing the President.

"With friends like these..." It's going to be a long, long 4 years. If anyone thinks a third party draws both sides of the aisle together to work against an incumbent, you haven't seen nothing like the Caucasian back lash from Capitol hill. A trillion dollar deficit, the economy on the skids, the stock market down for everyone at approx. 40 to 60%, two active, foreign occupations underway and a host of other national woes, and Joe thinks his best display of support for the guy that chose him as a running mate is to be the mouth piece for the disgruntled few in the Senate?? Sure ours is an adversarial form of government. But who would have thought that would come from a running mate and fellow occupant of the White House...before the inauguration???

Franken Race: Minnesota Court Deals Coleman New Blow

Well, it appears that the guy who would be Senator on the night of the election and belly ached that Franken should accept the initial counts as accurate and "throw in the towel" for the benefit of Minnesota politics, obviously has no intention of taking his advised high road now that the tables have turned. If that isn't par for the course... And now there's the likelihood that he (Coleman) will be filing for suit, which will tie up the courts and the Senatorial appointment for several more weeks. In order to declare so much as a tie at this point, he (Coleman) would need to win the decision on 225 of those 630 ballots in question and pose the assumption that Franken would win none of them or any of the remainder. The original recount was not a matter of Franken's insistance. It was a legal mandate based on the election outcome in Minnesota. Any suit brought about by Coleman is an exercise of choice based solely on wishful thinking. Perhaps he should be publicly reminded of his earlier concerns for Minnesota politics and follow his own suggestion made to Franken in November to accept the results and "throw in the towel".

Israeli ground forces enter Gaza in escalation

Gaza...12 miles by 12 miles. A mandatory gated community. In common terms a refugee camp since the uprising inspired by the West qnd Israel's disregard for the Palestinian's democratically held election results. No one in and no one out except the Israeli military. The propaganda promoted by the western press can say what it likes to have believed. These facts above still also remain true. Along with the mystical death tolls of 400 Israeli kills to the Palestinian single digit damage from what we are led to be barrages of rocket attacks for months which, in spite of the compact living conditions in Israel, rarely if ever find a target. Hardly a cause for calling in the reserves for the purpose of self defense. This is merely an exercise in troop mobilization and deployment. Fishing in a barrel. The Israelis could have walked back in and re-occupied Gaza at any time with just their weekend team. There's a vast gulf between logic and the propaganda.

Bushisms Over The Years

It's only fitting at the start of this new year 2009 and a new administration to look back and pay homage to the wit and wisdom of a two term president and his ability to think on his feet as well as the Idiocracy that voted for him and allowed him to serve to the detriment of what was once a great nation.

Bush Pardons 19 More After Questioning

Wouldn't it be rather stupid to pardon someone who hasn't been charged with anything as yet?

What will George do, create a pardon for any future charges against Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, etc.? Were the framers of our constitution possibly that misdirected?

On the other hand, if Dubbya can't pardon because there are no charges to date, perhaps someone will grow a pair and begin indicting some of these criminal minds after the inauguration.

One can only hope. Otherwise, all this talk of change is pure rhetoric.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi: Who Is The Bush Shoe-Thrower?

Well, you order an invasion/occupation and a regime change in a foreign country for unfounded purposes and reasons that (allegedly) cause over 600,000 civilian deaths and obliterates that nation's infrastructure and people are likely to get a little testy when you say you're giving them a "gift".

But a 15 year sentence? Well, so much for the "liberation", free speech and democracy.

Youthfulness: An American Obsession, At Any Cost

Human growth hormone and testosterone injections...to mention but a few things Dr. Life can prescribe for himself and you or I can not. Given these opportunities and the availablility to the right drugs, how many of the rest of us could and would extend our lives with a youthful appearance? Hell, for that matter, how many people could be cured of a shopping list of things and extend their lives to puberty in impoverished and starving third world villages?

Dr. Life happens to be a part of the elite few. People who are first in line for organ transplants and the most advanced surgical techniques while the unwashed masses are limited to HMOs and health care programs that won't provide any allowances for basic preventative medicines in an effort to spare the cost and increase their profit margins. But again...that's just the you and I kinda' people. And we're much, much luckier than so many others.

Well, good for Dr. Life.

While billions go without food or medicine on the planet he can somehow with good conscience remain to look like a phreak of nature and PhotoShop.

A great accomplishment for medical science. Ask any Liberian or Ugandan.

Pay Raise For Judges Tucked Into Auto Bailout Plan

It's official. There is no shame on Capitol Hill.

Read from the Huffpo article:

"The raise _ an annual cost of living adjustment, or COLA _ would bring U.S. District court judges up to par with members of Congress, who will receive an almost $5,000 boost on Jan. 1. District judges and lawmakers now earn $169,300 a year but are expected to be awarded a 2.8 percent raise next year..."

And mean while, American workers making the minimum wage (or approx. $17,000.00 per year) are lucky to get bupkiss and their taxes for generations to come will be used to pay down the more than $1 trillion in "bailouts for corporate America and COLAs for high level civil servants. Ah, the land of opportunity.
